Friday, November 30th Game Preview

Warroad at Breck

Warroad and Breck. The two heavyweights in Class A.  These two took each other to OT in the Class A State Championship last year before Sadie Lindsay won it for Breck :08 into the extra period.

Both teams are 5-0 on the year.  4 of Breck’s win and 2 of Warroad’s wins have come against AA competition.  Breck’s Olivia Mobley has 9 goals.  Warroad’s Hannah Corneliusen has 10.  Breck is averaging 5.00 goals per game.  Warroad is averaging 5.6 goals per game.

My point is that this will be an evenly matched game which will make it an entertaining and close one.

I believe Breck’s depth and tougher schedule year-to-date give them the slight edge.

Breck 4.  Warroad 3.

Buffalo at Princeton

Buffalo has one loss in 6 games. Jada Habisch has gotten it done despite opponents keying on her game in and game out.  Allisen Carothers has stepped up to provide some scoring punch.

Princeton has Maddy Peterson who is one of the best seniors in the state.  Kallie Abrahamson had complemented her well this season.  Goaltending has been a bit of an issue for the Tigers so far.

Buffalo 5.  Princeton 3.

Eden Prairie at Benilde-St. Margaret’s

BSM, in the next four games, has EP, Edina, Lourdes, and Blake. Ouch. They are 2-2 in their first 4 with losses to Breck and Minnetonka and wins over Duluth and Hopkins/Park. Juckniess and Rich lead the way each with 5 points. If the Red Knights stand a chance tonight Olivia Haag has to get it going and Carly Greene , coming off an injury, will have to be 100%.

EP is 4-1 with their lone loss coming to Blake. They should get win number 5 tonight.  Sydney Langseth has been great.  Goalie Molly Goergen has been a nice surprise boasting a .927 SV% so far on the year.

EP 4.  BSM 2.

Mound Westonka at Fergus Falls

Mound Westonka has skyrocketed up the Class A rankings all the way to #4.  All they do is win.  5-0 on the year and only giving up .80 goals per game against. Goalie Taylor Smith has a .977 SV%!  Wow. Freshman Kailey Niccum leads the team in goals with 5.  Lauren Burris leads in points with 10.

Fergus Falls is like the Rodney Dangerfield of Class A girls hockey.  They’ve won their last two games, one being against a good Sartell team, and DROPPED in the rankings!  How does that happen?! They are 4-1 on the year with their lone loss coming to South St. Paul in a tight one 1-2. Sophie Rausch has been a force scoring 9 goals and having 5 helpers.

I think Fergus Falls give the White Hawks a really good game.

Mound Westonka 4.  Fergus Falls 3.
