Alexandria at Willmar
This game was not close although the score would indicate otherwise. Willmar’s Madison Garberding scored :30 into the game. Alexandria answered with two of their own later in the period within :30 of each other- Hanley Block followed immediately by Hadlee Hansen.
This one finished 2-1 in favor of Alexandria. Shots were 69-13 for the Cardinals. Wow.
Eastview at Apple Valley
Really even game between the Lightning and Eagles. Apple Valley carried the momentum in the first outshooting Eastview 12-6 but could not find the back of the net. Momentum swung the other way in the second. Eastview scored a PP goal at the 8:19 mark. Apple Valley’s Krista Martinson evened it up with a goal towards the end of the period. The Lightning outshot the Eagles by a margin of 12-8 in the second frame. The two teams traded goals in the third before the Lightning’s Mikayla Kelley scored the game winner with just over 2:00 to play.
I had this one at 4-2 for the Eagles. Real life was 3-2 for the Lightning.
Orono at Chaska/Chan
My limerick for this game sucked. But the point I was trying to make was this one was going to be all CC. The final score was 3-0 in favor of the Hawks. Shots were 59-10. More of the same for the Hawks. Very balanced scoring as 8 skaters registered points for the victors.
Very nice game by Orono goalie Anna Lisle stopping 56 pucks.
Bursville at Farmington
Farmington had 38 shots on net. Blaze goalie Riley Pester made 38 saves. Nice job, Riley! Two goals, one a 2nd period shorty, by Blaze forward Aubrey Nelvin and one from Lyndsey Howard in the final period gave Burnsville the 3-0 win as they improve to 5-1 on the year.
Maple Grove at Minnetonka
Maple Grove jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two. Tonka showed some resiliency by scoring two third period goals- a PP goal by Kayley Crawford and one by Lacey Martin with :40 left to force OT.
Maple Grove’s Tristana Tatur had two goals. The first goal coming in the opening period. The second being the OT game winner. Lauren Stenslie added two assists for the Crimson as they move to 4-0.
