In my tryptophan induced haze on Thanksgiving I forgot to recap the two games we had on the docket. My bad.
Dodge County at North St. Paul/Tartan
I had this one going in DC’s favor. Paige Paulos, the NSP/T goalie, had a different idea. Paige faced 19 shots and turned 19 away. Jillian Tabaka and Rachel Novak scored the only two goals of the game in NSP/T’s win.
It was a very defensive battle with the game still tied at 0s after two periods. Dodge County turned up the heat in the third piling on 10 shots, after only have 9 combined in the first two frames, but Paige Paulos just kept making saves. Jillian Tabaka scored the game winner at 11:27 of the third and Rachel Novak got what I suspect was an empty netter with just 6 ticks left in the game. I really wish the official score keepers would denote empty net goals.
DC moves to 2-2 on the season. NSP/T improves to 3-4.
Red Wing at Rochester John Marshall
I figured this game would go to the team that would be willing to shoot the puck from everywhere. I was right. The team that won had 39 shots to their opponent’s 22 shots. I just had the team wrong! Red Wing got their second win of the season with a 5-2 victory of RJM. Red Wing’s Emily Hart and Eliza Dinatale each had two goals
