15 games today. Here we go…
Chaska/Chan at Prior Lake
CC started the year off by losing their first two games. They probably felt like the gave one away to Minneapolis losing 2-3 yet outshot Minneapolis 26-14. In game two they ran into Wayzata and that went just about how we expected. CC finally got a tally in the win column last week with a 3-2 win over New Prague. 9th grader Katelyn Roberts scored 2 goals in the win and Elisabeth Gerebi and Jamie Bimberg each had two assists. Katelyn had a really nice Labor Day weekend at NAHA in Burlington, VT where her stellar play put her on the radar of many college programs. CC will be looking for junior goalie Olivia Rinzel to step up her play a little bit and I think she gets that started today vs. Prior Lake.
Prior Lake has started the season 0-3. They lost Katie Huntington to Quinnipiac so they are having a tough time scoring goals. Katie’s younger sister, senior Charlotte/Sacred Heart, has 1 and 1 on the year. Junior Paige Pavlish also has 1 and 1. They are the only girls with points on the year.
CC wins this one 4-1.
White Bear Lake at Grand Rapids/Greeway
WBL enters this one with a 1-2 record on the year. Their first two losses were to Hill Murray and Blake. They got on the right side of things last game with a W over Park of Cottage Grove. Their offense needs to get things going as they are only averaging 1.67 goals per game thus far.
GR/G can put the puck in the net as they have averaged 5.67 goals per game while going 3-0 to start the year. Sadie Peart/Quinnipiac has 10 points on the year so far. Maddie Drotts with 8. Amber Elich has 6 and Claire Vekich/Bemidji had 4.
Syd Shearen gets it going tonight and DeLaRosa, MacLean, and Frank slow down the high powered offense of Grand Rapids/Greeway.
WBL 4. GR/G 2.
Edina at Duluth
Edina blah blah blah. Duluth is 0-3. Coach Reber calls of the dogs in the third.
Edina 7. Duluth 1.
Duluth Marshall at St. Cloud
DM is 1-1 on the year with the loss coming to South St. Paul and the win over St. Francis/North Branch. DM sophomore Maren Friday is really good yet she didn’t make the HP16 District 7 team this past spring which was an oversight by Minnesota Hockey. Emily Lemker and Gracie Thomas lead the team in scoring each with 3 points in two games.
St. Cloud is looking for some help for Gabbie Rud as they are 0-3 to start the year. The game plan vs. St. Cloud is too easy. They are going to have to find a way to score some ugly goals. Pucks to the net and look for some second chance opportunities.
DM executes the game plan and wins this one 3-1.
Blake at Proctor/Hermantown
Blake handed EP their first loss of the year in the last game winning 4-0. They were only +2 in the shot column and scored 3 of their 4 on the PP. Blake will certainly get the offense going but they will have to tighten up the D against Proctor/Hermantown and not allow so many shots.
PH is 3-1 on the year with the only blemish a 1-3 loss to the defending Class A State Champs Breck. If they are going to compete in this one they will have to get to the net early and often. Sophomore Michaela Phinney is off to a fast start with 5 and 2 in 4 games.
Blake wins this one 4-2.
