I had a reader point out that four BSM girls scored their first career varsity goals in BSM’s win this past Friday nigh vs. Duluth.
Freshman Emma Hoen had 1 and 1. Freshman Sophie Melsness had 1 and 2. Freshman Mary Zavoral had one goal and freshman Emma Peschel had a goal.
Congrats to these 4!
Some interesting things come up. First, the reader asked if this is common. I doubt it simply because as I pointed out to him there aren’t a ton of teams that rely as heavily on underclassmen as BSM does so it this were to happen it would happen with a team like BSM. Second, I believe that Zavoral and Peschel were on Edina’s 15A White team last year as 8th graders. The 15A White team is Edina’s second A team at that age level. Good for them for making a move that allowed them to thrive and get out the logjam in Edina. They are both getting a regular shift on BSM Varsity this year and are contributors. Hoen and Melsness both played BSM last year as 8th graders.
Like I said earlier BSM will be VERY good in a couple years.
