Tuesday, November 20th Game Recap

Is there anyone else that is super annoyed when you get on startribune.com and hit the sports tab and then when the sports home page opens there is just enough of a delay in the drop down ad that you have just enough time to highlight the ‘High School’ tab but then before you can click the ad drops down and you click the ad instead and get redirected?! Or is it just me? I hate that and it gets me every time.  I wonder how many real click throughs there are on the ads compared to how many the Strib ad sales people claim? It’s so annoying.

Anyway, it is sisters edition.  Here we go…

Totino Grace at Blaine

The Parent sisters combined to help Blaine beat Totino Grace handily.  Ramsey had 2 and 2 and Peyton contributed on the defensive end helping hold Totino Grace to just one goal.  Hailey Hansen made 17 saves on 18 shots for the Bengals.  I had this one at 5-2 for Blaine.  Real life score was 5-1.  Ramsey deserves some extra pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving for her performance last night.

St. Francis/North Branch at Chisago Lakes

Chisago Lakes and the three Devries sisters lost to SF/NB last night.  Actually, they lost to a hot goalie in Rachel Miller.  Rachel made 36 saves on 37 shots and stole the game from Chisago and the ice cream from the Devries sisters.  Chisago Lakes was dominant in the game outshooting SF/NB 37-10. The game ended 2-1 for SF/NB.

Blake at Eden Prairie

The Wethington sisters and their Blake teammates made the short trip to Eden Prairie last night. Ava Christie got the start in net for Blake and was really good stopping 31 of 31 for the shutout and Addie Burton got it going with 2 and 2.  Lily Delianides had two goals and Izzy Daniel had a couple helpers.

I had this one at 4-2 for Blake.  Real life was 4 donut.

Lakeville South at Lakeville North

Lakeville South was leading in shots 21-16 after regulation but the score was tied at 2s thanks to some last second heroics by North’s Katie Doll.  Katie scored to force OT with just :26 left in the game. Sam Lackman scored for Lakeville North 1:04 into the overtime session to give North the W.

Ummmm. There were 19 minor penalties and 1 game misconduct in this game. Wow.

South St. Paul at Mound Westonka

All Mound Westonka does is win.  They got a great win last night against Makenna Deering and South St. Paul.  They should continue to shoot up the Class A rankings with this one.  Sydney Hules had 1 and 1, Emily Schepers had 2 assists, and Taylor Smith saved 21 of 23 for the White Hawks.

I gave the win to SSP in my preview.  White Hawks didn’t like that and made me eat some crow this morning with their 3-2 victory.

Anoka at Wayzata

I had this one at 5-1 for Wayzata but Hackley 1.0 and 2.0 and The Wiz couldn’t quite contain Maddie Mashuga.  It didn’t matter.  The Trojans still won 5-3.

Hackley 1.0 opened the scoring in the first.  Ocel had a couple goals.  McCollins had 3 helpers. And Urban had one less than McCollins.

St. Paul United at Edina

I thought the sister pairs might average more than a point per sister last night. I was wrong. They only averaged 1 point per sister.  4 sister pairs.  8 points. Vivian Jungels had two goals.  Annie Keuhl had 1 and 2.  Mallory Uihlein had 3 assists and third liner and BU commit Kylie Roberts had two goals.  Think about that for a second.  Third Liner.  Boston University.  Silly.  #edinaprobs

Final was 7-0 Edina.  The Hornets had two more goals than SPU had shots.

Breck at Hill Murray

8th grader Uma Corniea got the better of the high powered Hill Murray offense last night.  She stopped 27 of 29.  Hill Murray held the lead at 1-0 after one.  Carly Beniek and Ashley Halverson aswered for Breck in the second and Elly Klepinger added one early in the third to give Breck the 3-1 lead.  Katie Kaufman got the Pioneers within one but Allison Qualley shut the door on the comeback with an empty netter for the Mustangs with :34 left to play in regulation.

I had Hill in this one 3-2.  Real life was 4-2 for Breck.

Albert Lea at Northfield

Well, it was the Boland sister show last night in Northfield with their 8-0 win over Albert Lea. Jessica/Mankato had 4 and 1.  Kate/Bemidji had 1 and 3.  Mya Wesling had 2 and 3 as Northfield dominated Albert Lea outshooting them 43-8.

I’m seriously stressed about this whole Boland Mankato and Bemidji situation.  Do you split weekends in Mankato and Bemidji?  One weekend in Mankato then the next in Bemidji? Do you put a Maverick sticker on Mom’s car and a Beaver sticker on Dad’s car or do you put both stickers on each car?  Ugh.  My brain can’t take anymore.  Too complicated.
