Tuesday, November 20th Game Preview- Sisterhood of the Traveling Breezers Edition

If this site were in any other state this post would’ve been titled “Sisterhood of the Traveling Hockey Pants”  But this is Minnesota.  The land of Duck Duck Grey Duck and breezers.

In this edition we preview games where there are sisters on the roster.

Busy night. 47 games on the calendar. Here we go….

Totino Grace at Blaine

Totino Grace travels to Fogerty Arena to take on Ramsey and Peyton Parent and the Blaine Bengals. Ramsey is a senior forward and Ohio State commit who has piled up the points over her high school career. She has 1 and 2 through two games this season to give her like a million over her career. Maybe not a million but A LOT.  Peyton is a sophomore defenseman who already has two goals on the year.

Totino Grace will have a tough night trying to contain the Bengals offense which is averaging 5.50 goals per game.

Blaine takes this one 5-2.

St. Francis/North Branch at Chisago Lakes

One of these teams is going to get its first win of the season tonight.  I am going to go with Chisago Lakes because I think it would be great for Mom and Dad Devries to take their THREE daughters out for ice cream after the game to celebrate the victory.  That’s right.  There are three Devries girls on the team- junior Claire, sophomore Grace, and 8th grader Laine.  How cool is that?!

Besides, St. Francis/North Branch is having trouble scoring goals averaging just .67 goals per game over their first three games.

Chisago 3.  SF/NB 1.

Blake at Eden Prairie

Eden Prairie is off to a great start thanks to Sydney Langseth, Grace Kuipers, and Molly Goergen going 3-0.  But they run into the Wethington sisters and Blake tonight. I’m not sure if Molly Goergen has faced a slap shot like Maddie’s. Maddie is tied for the team lead in scoring with 6 points. Sister and fellow Gopher commit Audrey has 2 and 2 on the year.  There are two younger hockey playing sisters in the Wethington crew, too!

Blake wins 4-2.

Lakeville South at Lakeville North

The Maloney sisters, junior Lindsay and sophomore KK, will be out to avenge their football team’s loss to the Lakeville North Panthers in the Minnesota State High School Football 6A semifinal game from this past weekend. The Maloney-Maloney-Wright line has been very productive so far this season and I don’t see that being any different tonight.

South 3.  North 1.

South St. Paul at Mound Westonka

The Packers will be traveling across town tonight to take on the Pioske sisters and the Mound Westonka White Hawks. Mound Westonka is off to a fast start this year with 4 wins in 4 games. Not only are the White Hawks getting a lot of production offensively they have been very stingy defensively. 8th grade forward Greta Pioske has contributed 2 and 1 to that high powered offense and sophomore D Brooke Pioske has combined with goalie Taylor Smith to allow only .50 goals per game against. Brooke has 3 assists on the year, as well.

But the White Hawks have their toughest match up of the season so far.

SSP wins this one in a defensive battle 2-1.

Anoka at Wayzata

Anoka travels to PIC to face the Trojans of Wayzata and Hackley 1.0 and Hackley 2.0.  Addy Hackley is a junior defenseman and sister Sami is a freshman defenseman.  Hackley 1.0 and 2.0 will team with The Wiz to shut down Maddie Mashuga and Aleah Giddings.

Wayzata 5.  Anoka 1.

St. Paul United at Edina

SPU will have a tough night against the Hornets and their 4 sets of sisters!  That’s right.  Half of Edina’s team is made up of sister pairs.  You have CC and Lucy Bowlby.  Annie and Jane Keuhl, Tella and Vivian Jungels, and Gwen and Lily Hendrickson.  That group just might average more than 1 point per sister tonight.

Edina 6.  SPU 2.

Breck at Hill Murray

The Lindsay sisters and their Mustang teammates travel to Aldrich Arena to take on the Pioneers of Hill Murray. Sophomore Sadie Lindsay has contributed 2 goals and an assist and 8th grader Ava Linsday is tied for the team lead in assists with 4 on the year so far.  Breck is 3-0 on the season but they have their toughest test tonight on the road against Hill Murray. Hill is not happy with their performance vs. Eden Prairie in their last game.  They will be looking to right the ship.

Hill 3.  Breck 2.

Albert Lea at Northfield

Senior D and Bemidji commit Kate Boland and her sister sophomore forward and Mankato commit Jessica host Albert Lea tonight.

What are Kate and Jessica Boland’s parents going to do when Bemidji and Mankato play each other?  Does one parent sit with the Beaver fans and one sit with the Maverick fans?  Do you buy two jerseys cut them in half and then sew half of one jersey back together with a half of the other jersey? How do you do your Christmas cards?

Northfield wins this one 4-2.
