Thursday, January 17th Game Preview

26 games today. Here we go…

TRF at Warroad

TRF is 13-5 with their 5th loss coming to Brainerd last game. They were outshot 57-6 yet only lost by 2 goals. They will need another strong performance from their goaltending duo of Steele and Porter if they are to keep it close against the undefeated Warriors. Warroad is the only team left in the state with a perfect record. Although TRF is a very good team I don’t think there is any threat on that record having a blemish on it after tonight. But maybe I just jinxed them?! Probably not.

Warroad 5. TRF 1.

North Wright County at Eden Prairie

NWC getting a little taste of the Lake Conference tonight. NWC is 17-4 on the year and their top line of Bourgerie/Lemke/Finnerty has combined for a ridiculous 155 points. The rest of the team has 87 points combined. So EP will obviously try to limit the opportunities for the tremendous trio.

EP just snapped a 4 game losing streak with a win over Hopkins this past weekend. Langseth has 49 points and Grace Kuipers has 29 on the year for the Eagles.

EP 4. NWC 3.

Mound Westonka at Holy Family

I was curious as to why Sedona Blair got the start in place of Alex Pellicci last game for the Fire. To find the answer all I had to do was take a look at their game schedule. Alex will be rested and in net to face the undefeated White Hawks of Mound Westonka.

Mound Westonka has played 19 games without a single loss. They are 16-0-3 on the year. But tonight they have a tough test. I am going to go out on a limb here….

Holy Family 2. Mound Westonka 1.

Lakeville North at Lakeville South

Lakeville North has the much better record between the two teams but in a rivalry like this you can throw records out the window. In the last game between these two North won 3-2 with Sam Lackmann getting the game winner in OT. There were 20 penalties worth a combined 48 minutes. There will be some carry over into this game. So I hope the referees understand this and get control of the game immediately.

Brooke Power leads the way for the Panthers with 20 points. Lindsay Maloney leads South with 21 points.

South gets payback tonight.

South 3. North 2.
