4 games last night…
North St. Paul/Tartan at St. Paul/Henry Sibley
You know things aren’t going your way when you outshoot your opponent by a 2:1 margin in the first period yet you’re down by 2 goals. That’s what happened to StP/HS last night. They led in shots 12-6 in the first yet went into the first intermission down 0-2. It seems that deflated them the rest of the game as they mustered only 2 shots on net in the second and 5 in the third. NStP/T, on the other hand, used their first period good fortune to gain and keep the momentum the rest of the game.
NStP/T’s Jillian Tabaka, Alyssa Ettlinger, and Lauren Henriksen each had 1 and 1.
NStP/T 5. StP/HS 1.
St. Paul United at Wayzata
At the beginning of the year you would’ve circled this game on your calendar as a good one- Class A heavyweight vs. Class AA heavyweight. But SPU is underperforming this year for some reason.
Wayzata had some others step up last night. Kaci Johnson was great with 1 and 3. Chloe Fallen had 1 and 2.
Final was 7-3 in favor of Wayzata.
Edina at BSM
Wow, Carly Greene! Edina outshot BSM 17-1 in the first. Score was 0-0. Edina outshot BSM in the second 14-7. Score was 1-0 for Edina after 2. That is 30 saves on 31 shots through 2 periods for Carly. The 4th goal for Edina had to be an empty netter considering the one goal differential and the timing of it although the box score does not notate it. That would make 38 saves for Carly overall.
Annie Keuhl had 2 goals for the Hornets. BSM’s Mary Zavoral had 2 goals.
Final was Edina 4. BSM 2.
Simley at Mahtomedi
The first two periods were dominated by Simley as they outshot Mahtomedi 21-8 but the score was tied 1-1. Mahtomedi won the third and decisive period by being super efficient shooters scoring 2 goals on 6 shots.
Ellie Donovan and Molly Farrell each had a goal for Mahtomedi. Goalie Lauren Hamm had a great night making 24 saves on 25 shots. Molly Illetschko had the lone goal for Simley.
Mahtomedi 3. Simley 1.
