Thursday, December 5th Game Preview

27 games on the docket for tonight.  Here we go…

Minnehaha United at Holy Angels

Minnehaha is off to a nice start at 5-2 on the year.  They have three girls that produce the bulk of the points.  Senior Maddie Duca has 14 points, sophomore Emma Barborak has 12, and freshman Ava Wasserman has 11.  I believe they all play on a line together.

Holy Angels is 2-4 on the year. They have had a bit of an issue generating offense averaging just 1.50 goals per game. Junior Bridget McGuire leads the way with 1 goal and 3 assists.

Holy Angels’ game plan will be to contain Minnehaha’s top line in order to limit their production.  If Holy Angels can succeed at that they will win the game.  I think they can and it will be a low scoring affair.

Holy Angels 2.  Minnehaha 1.

New Prague at Hopkins/Park

New Prague no longer has Catie Skaja.  Hopkins/Park lost Kylie Hanley.  That is a ton of production gone from each team.  But each team has been pretty adept at scoring this year.  New Prague averaging 3.50 goals per game and Hopkins/Park with 4.14 goals per game.

New Prague is led by Kaitlyn Blair and Lindsey Bjerke each having 9 points.  Ellie Skaja has had a nice start to her freshman year with 5 points in 6 games.  They have had a tough schedule so far to date and have come through it nicely with a record of 3-2-1.

Hopkins/Park is led by senior Mary Gleason with 13 points and sophomore Yale commit Erin Brousseau with 12 points.

New Prague 4. Hopkins/Park 3.

Shakopee at Lakeville South

Shakopee has a hard time scoring goals.  Lakeville South has pretty generous with giving goals. Who steps up tonight?  Shakopee’s offense or Lakeville South’s defense?

Lindsay Maloney vs. Kenzie Bachelor.  Honestly, that is a tough one.

Lakeville South 2.  Shakopee 2.

Mound Westonka at Orono

I’m quickly becoming a fan of this Mound Westonka team. 8-0 record. 4.62 goals per game.  0.88 GAA.  They are very balanced.  Lots or scoring up front- Lauren Burris with 17 points, Grace Peterson with 13, and Kailey Niccum with 12. Really good defense-  Brooke Pioske. And an outstanding goalie in Taylor Smith. And they are loaded with youngsters so they will be good for a while.

Orono is off to a slow start at 2-7.  It doesn’t let up tonight against Mound Westonka. They have had a tough time scoring goals which will be especially tough tonight against the White Hawks stingy D and goalie.

Mound Westonka 7.  Orono 1.

Hibbing/Chisholm at Cloquet-Esko-Carlton

I feel like this will be a really good game.  H-town is not happy with their last game against Duluth Marshall.  Allie Bussey has been held out of the box score the last two games.  That doesn’t happen often and won’t tonight.

CEC has some firepower. Their top line has a combined 46 points. They are hard to slow down. They have a really good goalie is Elise Lund who has a .923 SV%.

CEC 4.  Hibbing/Chiholm 3.
