Warroad at Breck
Coming into the game each team had an opportunity to hold the title of undisputed Class A #1 ranking when it was over. Warroad seized the opportunity and dominated the game. Although the scored was 0-0 after 1 it was all Warroad as they outshot the Mustangs 16-5 in the opening frame. A couple sophomores got the scoring going for Warroad in the second. Sydney Phaneuf scored a PP goal 3:00 into the period before Genevieve Hendrickson added to the lead with an even strength goal. They took a 2-0 lead into the third. Again it was all Warroad in the third outshooting Breck 15-5 in the final period. You would like to see the team that is behind going into the third feel a sense of urgency and ramp up their shot production. That did not come to fruition for Breck, unfortunately. McKenzie Oelkers got, what I am guessing based on the timing and score of the game at this point, am empty netter. But the official scorekeeper did not notate that in the box score. Shots ended 43-23 in favor of Warroad.
I had this one for Breck. Warroad won 3-0 in convincing fashion.
Buffalo at Princeton
This game started pretty even between the two teams. The score, after the first, was 0-0 and shots were 11-10 in favor of Buffalo. But from the drop of the puck in the second to the final buzzer it was all Buffalo. Buffalo scored 4 in the second despite having to play a skater down 4 times and having no power plays. Emma Carlson and Jada Habisch each had 2 and 2 and goalie Kennedy Sohler played great making 32 saves on 32 shots for the shutout.
I had this for Buffalo 5-3. Real life was 8 donut.
Eden Prairie at BSM
This is a pretty easy summary. EP had 34 shots. Carly Greene, for BSM, made 33 saves and got her team the tie. BSM was thoroughly dominated but got out of there with a 1-1 tie thanks to Carly.
Mound Westonka at Fergus Falls
Mound Westonka just keeps winning. 8-0 after winning again on Saturday. The Whitehawks won 8 games all year last season. They keep climbing up the rankings but unfortunately they are in Section 5A with Breck. But a good goaltender can steal a game and Westonka has a really good one in Taylor Smith.
Fergus Falls is legit. They led this game in the shot department 28-24. They have a really good shot at coming out of Section 6A because St. Paul United is having a tough year. They do not get the respect they deserve. A #15 ranking in Class A is too low. Westonka is ranked #4 to give you some perspective.
I had this one at 4-3 for Mound Westonka. It ended exactly 4-3 for Mound Westonka.
