Tuesday, November 27th Game Recap

TRF at Roseau

I had this one at 4-1 for Roseau.  Real life score was 6-0 for the Rams. I thought this game would be a little closer.  Roseau outshot TRF 52-9.  It was a dominant performance.  Ella Helgeson and Anika Stoskopf each  had 1 and 2 to lead the Rams to their 5th straight victory to start the season.

The Rams take on Mounds View in their next one.  Their winning ways should continue.

Shakopee at Blake

Blake is just too good and has too much fire power.  Shakopee had given up only one goal in its first three games.  Then the levee broke.  Blake shelled Sabre goalie Sidney Hearn with 45 shots putting 9 of them past her.

The usual suspects showed up on the box score for Blake of course.  They got some help from Bailey Abraham and Grace Johnson each with 2 assists. 8th graders Ellie Morrison and Sam Broz each scored their first career varsity goals last night.  Congrats, girls!

I had this one at 4-0 for Blake as I figured Shakopee would continue their defensive ways.  It finished 9-1 for the Bears.

Andover at Blaine

Man, I really thought Blaine would give Andover a test.  It wasn’t much of a game.  Andover carried a 2-0 lead into the start of the second.  Blaine’s Ramsey Parent cut the lead to one just about 3 minutes into the second but that was all the offense the Bengals could muster. Andover scored 4 straight goals to make it a 6-1 finish.  Jamie Nelson led the way with 1 and 2.

Final was 6-1.  I had it at 5-3.

Chisago Lakes at Cambridge/Isanti

Chisago showed some signs of life in this one which is encouraging.  Mankato commit Danielle Burgen had 1 and 1 and UMD commit Jenna Lawry had 2 goals for Chisago.  But it was not quite enough.

Four C/I players registered 2 points each to give them their 4th straight win to start the season. C/I travels to Grand Rapids this Friday to face their toughest competition to date.

I had this one at 5-1 for C/I.  Real life was much closer. 4-3.

Anoka at Elk River

It was the Kelsey King show once again.  She scored 5 goals.  She has 14 goals in 5 games. But get this.  Elk River won 7-0 yet was outshot by Anoka 26-21.  It looks as though Anoka started their back up goalie. Not fun going against Kelsey King.

I had this one at 4-2 for the Elks.

Chaska/Chan at Holy Family

I figured this one would be a close one.  And it was.  A 3-2 win for CC. I had the score right.  Just the wrong winner.  Looking a little closer though it seems it may not have been quite as close as the score indicated as CC outshot the Fire 37-22.

The Fire kept Katelyn Roberts in check so Jordyn Perlich and Grace Doerring stepped up for CC and each chipped in a couple points.

Farmington at Lakeville North

I had this one at 4-2 for Farmington.  Real life was exactly that.  The Tigers’ Samantha Moehle had the hat trick and Ryleigh Furlong made 20 saves on 22 shots.

Brooke Power had 1 and 1 for Lakeville North.

Farmington takes on another ‘Ville in Burnsville this Thursday. LVN takes on Rosemount.

Centennial at Maple Grove

Centennial is still looking for some consistent goal scoring.  I was right in that Maple Grove would win by three but was wrong in the final score.  I had 4-1 for MG. Real life was 3-0.

Mckenna Stoterau was back in net for Centennial and made 27 saves on 30 shots.  She had a good game but couldn’t get any offensive support.

MG’s Mannon McMahon had 3 assists, Emily Herdine had 2 goals, and Lucy Morgan had the 16 save shutout to extend the Crimson record to 3-0.  They take on Minnetonka this Thursday.

Delano/Rockford at South St. Paul

I figured this one would be a defensive battle and that type of game would favor SSP.  I had it at 2-1 for SSP.  Real life was 1-0 for SSP.  SSP goalie Delaney Norman pitched the shutout.  Brynn Sexauer had the lone goal.

Notable Performances

McKenzie Keller scored the OT game winner for Mankato East in their 3-2 win over Owatonna.

Claire Vekich scored the OT game winner for Grand Rapids/Greenway in their 3-2 win over Cloquet-Esko-Carlton.

Lindsay Bjerke had the OT game winner for New Prague in their 3-2 win over Rochester Lourdes.

Katie Flynn scored the OT game winner for East Ridge in their 4-3 win over Woodbury.
