Friday, November 16th Game Recap

Good morning! I trust everyone had a great weekend cheering on their favorite girls hockey team.

Holy Family at Moose Lake

Taylor Koeppl got Holy Family on the board within 5 minutes and they never looked back despite being outshot by over a 2:1 margin.  They had a comfortable 4 goal lead to start the third before adding 2 more.  Moose Lake’s Lexi Bonneville finally got them on the board when she scored a PP goal.  I figured Lauren Hickey would get it going and she did by scoring a couple goals. Sydney Paulsen had 2 goals, Maeve Kelly and MacKenzie McMillan each had 2 assists, Maddie Morgan had 1 and 1 and Taylor Koeppl added 2 assists to go with her first period goal.

8th grade goalie sensation Sedona Blair got the start in net for Holy Family and she was ridiculously good stopping 42 of 43 shots.  **update-  The Family let me know that the Hub had the shot total wrong.  But I am not going to retract my statement calling Sedona a sensation.  Nope.  I won’t do it because she’s really good.

Final was 7-1 for The Family.

Dodge County at CEC

I nailed this one at 3-1 for DC but it was 9th grader Lyndi Schubert and not Olivia Smallbrook who did the scoring for Dodge County.  Lyndi got the equalizer in the first and added the insurance goal late in the third. Sophomore goalie Sky Hughes made 30 saves on 31 shots for the win.

North St. Paul/Tartan at Grand Rapids/Greenway

I had GRG at 5-1. Real life score was 4-1 for GRG.  Sadie Peart had 2 and 1 and Claire Vekich and Maddie Drotts each added a goal. Junior Emily Trast saved 17 of 18 to contribute to the GRG victory.

Irondale at Hibbing/Chisholm

H/C almost doubled up Irondale on shots.  Allie Bussey did more distributing than scoring but that’s okay.  Can’t score goals unless you move the puck.  She had 1 and 2. Senior goalie Abby Edstrom was almost perfect in making 15 saves on 16 shots.

I had this one at 4-0 for H/C.  Real life score was 4-1.

Roseville at Proctor/Hermantown

This was was much closer on the scoreboard than it really was.  P/H won 2-0 but outshot Roseville 38-6. Senior goalie Maddison Lehto was stellar in net for Roseville making 36 saves. Alyssa Watkins and Sydney Skorich each had a goal for P/H.

I had this one pegged at 6-2 for P/H.  I was not close.  Thanks a lot Maddison!

Minnetonka at Roseau

I had the score right.  Just the wrong winner.  Roseau got out to a quick lead with Anika Stoskopf scoring just 1:20 into the game. Ella Helgason added a PP goal with :06 to go in the first to give them a 2 rip lead into the first break. Tonka’s Emily Bayless scored not even a minute into the second to get within one but Roseau responded just over 2 minutes later.  Tonka got within one again in the 3rd with another from Bayless.  Kayla Santl added the insurance goal with :37 left in the game to the Rams a 4-2 victory. Tonka outshot the Rams 35-30.  Kiana Flag made made 33 saved for Roseau.

BSM at Duluth

I had BSM tallying 4 and giving up 1.  They are making me look bad by scoring 8!

Carly Greene was out with an injury.  We hope she gets back soon. Rose Beeman got the start and saved 12 of 13. The most impressive stat of the night is there were 8 goal scorers for BSM.  Everyone contributing.  That bodes well for team success.

Final was 8-1.

Lakeville North at Warroad

Lakeville North had another tough night finding the net.  Warroad goalie Quinn Kuntz is very good.  She had the 18 save shutout.  She will be a Buckeye next year. Hannah Corneliusen had the hat trick for Warroad.

I had this one at 5-1.  Real life score was 4-0 for the Warriors.
