Only two games on the calendar today. Here we go…
Minneapolis vs Mound Westonka
Minneapolis enters the game with a two game unbeaten streak to start the season. They opened with a 2-2 tie against St. Francis/North Branch and got a nice win over Chaska/Chan last night 4-2. Erica Lieske leads to way so far this year with 3 points over the first two games and goalie Maeve Tallman sports a 1.85 GAA and .917 save percentage.
Mound Westonka has also started the season unbeaten getting wins over New Ulm and Northfield by outscoring their opponents 11-1 in those two games. Sophomore Grace Peterson and senior Lauren Burris each have 6 points and freshman Kailey Niccum has chipped in 4 points. Recent UVM commit sophomore D Brooke Pioske and senior goalie Taylor Smith, who has made 48 saves on 48 shots, will make it tough for Minneapolis to score.
Mound Westonka 5. Minneapolis 1.
Cretin Derham Hall vs Mahtomedi
CDH opened the season keeping it close with Blake because goalie Kailie Smith made 51 saves. She will make it tough for Mahtomedi tonight. Mahtomedi’s first two games have gone to OT. I don’t think this one will give us any free hockey tonight. CDH’s Emily King gets her first goal or two tonight and Kailie Smith gets the shutout.
CDH 4. Mahtomedi 0.
