Edina vs Andover
Wow! What a great start to the season. Honestly, I thought the depth of Edina would be the difference in this battle. My thought was Edina’s second and third lines would be able to exploit some mismatches. I was wrong. Their second and third lines did not find the box score. The goalie play was the difference. Cassidy Stumo, in net for Andover, was outstanding and it turns out she was Andover’s best player last night. Edina outshot Andover in each period for a game total of 37 shots for and 22 against.
We knew that Andover was good and they will be good for a long time. The crowd was awesome- standing room only. There is great community support in Andover for their girls hockey. Great things have been happening up there for the last 5-6 years.
Jamie Nelson/Andover started right where she left off last year with 2 goals. Gabby Krause and Maddy Clough each added 2 assists for the Huskies. Newcomer, Katie Davis, had 2 goals for Edina and super frosh Vivian Jungels added 2 assists.
NWC vs St. Cloud
NWC kept Gabbie Rud in check all night and took home the win, 4-0. Brinna Martin had 2 assists and Anna LaRose had a 12 save shutout for NWC.
Buffalo vs Orono
Buffalo dominated Orono last night winning 5-1 and outshooting them 32-16. Jada Habisch was an assist away from a girl’s version of a Gordie Howe hat trick. That’s a penalty rather than a fight in this case!
Brainerd/Little Falls vs Willmar
It looks like this game got cancelled.
