42 games tonight but first some observations from the handful of games from last night.
Proctor/Hermantown got a much needed win over Hayward. But Blake is next.
Alexandria traveled to the mini Ralph to play TRF. It was a 1 goal game early in the third until Alexandria scored 5 straight goals to pull away from the Prowlers. Final 7-2.
Willmar’s Madison Garberding scored at the end of OT to give them the 3-2 win over River Lakes. Goalies combined for .930 SV%.
Roseau at TRF
TRF hosting back to back nights at home. They took it on the chin last night and it doesn’t get any easier vs. Roseau today. TRF lost their first game of the year 0-3 to Bemidji. Bemidji lost to Roseau 6-1. So if Bemidji is 3 goals better than TRF and Roseau is 5 goals better than Bemidji that means Roseau wins by 8. Is that how that works? Not sure but I’m going with it. Especially because Roseau is not happy about giving up a 4 goal lead twice vs. CC in their last game. Not only did they give up the 4 goal lead twice they had to score the last goal just to get the tie. They will take it out on TRF tonight.
Roseau 8. TRF 0.
Lourdes at Chippewa Falls/Menomonie
Not sure if Wisconsin girls high school hockey is any good. If I knew I would start a blog called Sconi Girls Hockey. The only thing I have to go on is St. Paul United played Hudson and beat them 2-1 and St. Croix Valley beat a Maddy Peterson-less Princeton 3-1. Sota > Sconi.
Lourdes 7. Cheeseheads 0.
St. Francis/North Branch at Superior Spartans
I am finding more Sota vs. Sconi games. Superior beat Eveleth 4-2. St. Francis/NB hasn’t won a game but I am a homer. Anyone going to the game should hit Anchor Bar before or after. If you like dive bars this one is a beauty.

St. Francis 2. Cheeseheads 0.
Apple Valley at Shakopee
Apple Valley is 5-0. I know. Crazy, right? It’s like we’ve taken a time machine back to 1997. Is Annamaria Holmes on the roster, Doc Brown? And two of those five wins have come against Farmington and Proctor/Hermantown. Goalie Keni Allen has 1.19 GAA and .945 SV%. And the Moran sisters have combined for 22 points. Mandy, with 9 points, is a junior. 9th grader Marie has 6 points and 7th grader Makayla has 7 points. That’s pretty cool.
Shakopee is 4-0 and is averaging 1.50 GAA. Scoring has been pretty balanced with 12 players registering at least a point. Olivia Grabianowski leads the way with 7.
Two perfect records go in. Only one coming out.
Shakopee 2. Apple Valley 1.
Red Wing at Northfield
After starting the season with 5 straight losses Red Wing has won 2 in a row. Eliza DiNatale has scored 7 goals in those 2 wins.
Northfield has won 4 straight to start the season. Jessica Boland leads the way with 8 points and Maggie Malecha has been stellar in net posting a .75 GAA and .972 SV%.
Northfield goes to 5-0
Raiders 4. Wingers 0.
Farmington at Eastview
WTF is going on in Farmington?! 0-3 to start the season. 3-0 should’ve been more like it. They need to figure out a way to generate some offense. Carly Lancaster leads they way with only 2 points. No one else has more than 1 point. They even added junior Sadie Long who had 28 points for Holy Family last season.
Eastview is off to a great start at 5-2. They would like a do-over of the third period of the Rosemount game in which they gave up a 4 goal lead ultimately losing in OT. They have more than doubled their offensive production over last year thanks to 25 combined points from Mikayla Kelley and Avery Chesek. Avery has 11 goals already.
Farmington figures it out tonight. We hope.
Farmington 5. Eastview 3.
