ANDOVER at EDINA
Yesterday if you would’ve said to me, “I will bet you $1,000,000 that Andover will score 1 goal and win” I would’ve booked that bet before you could’ve finished the sentence. It was a foregone conclusion that Edina was going to get their shots, right? And because of that you knew they would score 3-4 goals minimum. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. So Wrong. The Hornets only had 13 shots through the first two periods. That won’t get it done against lesser teams. And certainly not against Andover.
I was not at the game so I am not sure why Edina wasn’t shooting the puck. They did have to kill 3 penalties in the first two periods so that takes away some opportunities to shoot. But conversely, they had a stretch in the second period where, due to a string of Andover penalties, they had 3 straight minutes on the PP and almost a minute of that was 5v3. And with that Edina could only muster 7 shots on net in the second period.
The Huskies’ Gabby Krause scored the lone goal of the game with :56 to play in the first with the assist going to Peyton Hemp. 2 points down for those two. 100+ more to go.
Amanda Pelkey was perfect in net for Andover saving 25 of 25. Uma Corniea was nearly perfect saving 25 of 26 for the Hornets.
What a great game to kick off the 2019-2020 season! Congrats to Andover on the big W.
