2019 Ms. Hockey Semifinalists Announced

Here are the 10…..

Back on November 9th I put out my prediction for the 10 semifinalists. I had 7 of the 10 on my list. I had Maddie Petersen, Ramsey Parent, and Syd Shearen on my list. They did not make the final grouping. Sadie Peart and Katie Kaufman, who I profiled as ‘in the hunt’ made the final group along with Kaitlyn Kotlowski of Warroad. Unfortunately for Petersen, Parent, and Shearen I think being on teams that didn’t have great records cost them the opportunity to be included.

Petersen was really good individually scoring 55 points with 2 games to play but Princeton’s record was 8-14-1. That is an improvement over 2017/18 when she posted 50 points over 25 games.

Ramsey Parent’s Blaine Bengals posted a 2017/18 record of 17-6-2 but is just 10-12-1 with 2 games to play. Less wins meant points were harder to come by for Ramsey. She is currently at 36 with 2 games to play vs. 49 last year.

White Bear Lake’s record over the last three years has gone from 15-10-0 to 16-7-3 to 9-11-3 with one game to play this year. Two time Team USA U18 member Sydney Shearen’s point production has gone from 42 points in 25 games to 43 points in 20 games to 19 points in 19 games this year. I heard she even played some D this year.

Congrats to the 10 ladies who have been named a 2019 Ms. Hockey Semifinalist. Maddie Wethington is still a lock to win it. But I believe the other 4 finalists will be Kelsey King, CC Bowlby, Izzy Daniel, and Mannon McMahon.
