Tuesday, January 29th Game Preview

Beautiful day out! Who wants to play some pond?!

Lots of today’s games cancelled or postponed. Not even sure if some of the games I am previewing are even going to be played but we will just go with what The Hub says…

Blake was scheduled to play at Forest Lake. That got cancelled. I was curious to see how that one played out.

EP at Edina got cancelled. Darn it.

Buffalo at NWC

The last time these two met NWC got the 3-2 win in OT on a Sydney Lemke power play goal and there were a combined 81 shots. The goalie play was outstanding.

NWC is 18-5 on they year. Their top line just keeps racking up the points. 165 total points between the three of them. 4 of their 5 losses have come to teams ranked in the top 10 of Class AA- EP, Roseau, and Brainerd x 2. Their best win is a 2-0 over Grand Rapids.

Buffalo’s record is 14-7-2. Last week they beat Brainerd 2-0. NWC has played Brainerd twice and lost both.

I think Buffalo evens the series at 1 each. Both of these teams go to the Lake Conference next year so the rivalry will continue.

Cambridge at St. Francis

The Blue Jackets have 4 skaters with 30 or more points. Madelyn Skelton leads the way with 46.

St. Francis has a hard time scoring goals as they average only 1.55 GPG. That means if Cambridge scores 2 they win and I don’t think that will be a problem. Skelton will probably get 2 on her own. See above.

Mankato East at Mankato West

I have to imagine that this is a GIANT rivalry, right? Like burn the town down kinda rivalry.

The last time these two played East won a close one 3-2. On paper these two teams are almost identical. East has a record of 13-7-2. West’s record is 12-7-3. East averages 3.77 GPG and West 3.95 GPG.

I bet against West in their last game. I was wrong. Got called out on Twitter. Had to eat crow. Didn’t like it. So West, I am backing you this time. Don’t let me down. Capishe?

Now that I think about it it would’ve just been easier and funnier if I had just said “I bet Mankato wins.” But too late for that.
