Wednesday, November 14th Game Recap

Minneapolis vs Mound Westonka

I had this one at 5-1 favoring Mound Westonka. Mound Westonka was a goal short of my prediction on their home ice.  The score (0-0) and the shots (7-7) were dead even after one. Mound Westonka found their stride in the second by pumping in three goals and out shooting Minneapolis 17-9.  Sydney Hules opened the scoring for Mound Westonka just :28 into the second.  Greta Pioske netted her first of the year and Kailey Niccum added a goal to give Mound Westonka a 3-0 lead heading into the second intermission.  The teams traded goals in the third to make it a 4-1 final for Mound Westonka.

Senior Taylor Smith had another nice night in net for the White Hawks making 28 saves on 29 shots. Sophomore Grace Peterson added 1 and 1 to her totals giving her 8 points in the first 3 games of the year.

CDH vs Mahtomedi\

I had this one pegged at 4-0 for CDH in my preview post.  CDH let me down by giving up a goal! They nailed my goal output prediction by winning 4-1.  The thing that sticks out from this box score is that of the 5 total goals 4 of them were scored on the power play.  Each team served 6 penalties.

Keira Ryan had 1 and 1, Olivia Garrity had 1 and 1, Emily King had 2 assists, Lily Barrett had 2 assists, and Kallie Smith made 21 saves on 22 shots giving her a save percentage of .923 over the first two game of the year.

One additional thing I want to point out-  CDH had 8 assists on 4 goals.  Nice puck movement, ladies!
