Rosemount vs Farmington

The Rosemount program historically has not been very good.  You can go back to as recently as 2015-2016 when the program did not win a game.  Things are starting to turn around there thanks in large part to the Tuttle sisters.  Junior Ashley scored two goals last week in their season opening win vs. Hastings.  Her freshman sister Whitney/Mankato assisted on one of them.  That tandem will be a productive one this year for the Irish.  But they go up against a young and talented team in Farmington.  Farmington has some young studs in sophomore D Brenna Furhman/UMD, sophomore D Jayden Seifert/Mankato, super frosh Claire Enright/Minnesota, and sophomore Carly Lancaster.  Farmington lost their leading scorer from last year to graduation in Ellie Moser.  And they lost senior Marissa Agerter to Gentry Academy.

Forest Lake vs. Minnetonka

These two teams have played each of the last two years.  Both games have finished in a low scoring tie-  2’s a piece two years ago in Minnetonka and 1-1 last season in Forest Lake.  Minnetonka has 4 skaters that participated in USA Hockey’s Maine Camp this past summer- Maggie Nicholson/Minnesota/USA Hockey U18, Kailey Langefels/Holy Cross, Lacey Martin/Boston University, and Rory Guilday/Cornell. Nicholson and Guilday might rival Maddie Wethington for hardest shot in the state and Martin might have the most accurate shot in the state. Minnetonka’s strong junior class and the depth that comes with it might be the difference in this one.

Forest Lake will be led up front by recent UMD commit Breija Parent, juniors Brooke Remington and Ashley Mills.  Their D unit is very good with Rachel Golnitz/Colgate, Ellen Nelson/Mankato, and Courtney Peterson.  Forest Lake did lose their starting goalie from the last two years, Josie Bothun, to the boys program.  But junior goalie Allyn Goehner is pretty darn good.

Minnetonka breaks the stalemate with a 3-1 win on their home sheet.

Hill Murray vs White Bear Lake

Each team has some really high end talent but WBL’s depth does not run as deep as Hill’s.  That will be the difference tonight. Hill Murray has Blinkhorn/Boston University, Kaufman/Merrimack, Steigauf/Qunnipiac, Franco/Minnesota, Olson/RIT, and Geer/Cornell.  WBL has Shearen/Minnesota/USA Hockey U18, DeLaRosa/Bemidji, and Calla Frank/Mankato/USA Hockey U18, and MacLean/Merrimack.

Breck vs. BSM

BSM diving head first into the meat grinder!  They host defending Class A Champs Breck tonight in their first tilt of the season and then play Minnetonka, EP, Edina, Lourdes, and Blake in 5 of their next 7 games.  BSM has some really nice young talent but the early schedule is TOUGH.  Mobley/Qinnipiac, Beniek/Holy Cross, S. Lindsay/Minnesota, Qualley/Merrimack, Zumwinkle/Minnesota will be too much for the young BSM team to handle tonight, I believe.  BSM’s Haag/Boston University will need to step up tonight and show off some of her offensive skill.  Podein/Vermont and Hancock/Brown will have their work cut out. But if Carly Greene can do tonight what she did to Blake last season she can give her team a chance.

Spring Lake Park vs Andover

SLP has a couple nice players in junior forward Sydney Symynkywicz (that is FIVE y’s for anyone keeping score at home.  Someone alert Guinness, please) and junior D Lizzie Northquest.

Andover,led by Hemp/Minnesota and Nelson/Mankato, might have another 50+ shot night in them. Someone is going to get a hat trick.

Andover wins this one by at least 6.
